Overview This agitprop-inspired poster explores the heavy mental weight of overcrowded public transport in Brussels—and the universal friction of the daily city commute. The project serves as a visual study of movement without space, mapping the claustrophobia of modern transit through a blend of physical mixed-media and digital graphic design.
The Symbolism To capture the psychological strain of packed spaces, insects were utilized as distinct metaphors for the specific emotions experienced during a commute:
Flies — Sensory overstimulation and noise.
Ants — The anxiety of constant movement and rushing crowds.
Beetles — Heavy pressure and the crushing feeling of being trapped.
Roaches — Visceral, intrusive discomfort in shared spaces.
Praying Mantises — Defensive tension and the active avoidance of physical contact.
Process & Execution To make the final piece feel genuinely physical and unsettling, the workflow bridged traditional tactile art and digital composition. Every paper insect was individually hand-painted and physically glued down to form a raw, textured collage. This analog composition was then scanned into Photoshop, where it was integrated with sharp graphic design elements to create a high-impact, cohesive campaign poster.
